Featured Artist: Marcus Ore of Trinidad and Tobago
IZATRINI.com would like to introduce you to Marcus Ore. Marcus was born and raised in Diego Martin, Trinidad W.I. for
the majority of his youth. Growing up on an island known for their love for music and dance, he was exposed to many musical
influences. Gravitating to reggae music in his early adolescence, Marcus was captivated by reggae dub riddims. Marcus loved
the simple but deep philosopy of Bob Marley and the Wailers, the charismatic style of Jacob Miller and the simply smooth style
of Gregory Isaac.
At the age of 18, he migrated to Toronto, Canada where he spent some years
working and going to school. During his spare time he will write poetry which brought out his inner most thoughts, in collaboration
with his passion for reggae music these poems eventually became songs.
Marcus Ore enrolled himself into the Toronto Film School where he studied
and graduated with a diploma in "Sound Technology", and it was also there he met people of common interest and soon enough
began to record and perform on the Toronto circuit. A love for his craft is very evident with his strong work ethic and deep
creativity in his music.
Marcus's music speaks of love, oppression, joy and words of encouragement.
Marcus Ore is a voice of reasoning who speaks from the heart, keep an eye open for this emerging talent and support local
artist. Bless!
Trini Movie to be released by Trinidad Carnival 2008
Shanty - "A Story of Love, Life and Class" is the brain child of Writer and Director Damian Marcano along with Producer Chad Felix.
Damian migrated to the US at age 12 and wants to reconnect with his Trini roots by
producing a local movie that shows a cross-section of life on the island.
The
script took 2 years to complete but production of the movie is set for September 1st, 2007.
A casting session was held in Trinidad back in May,
2007 and Marcano was pleasantly surprised by the quality talent Trinidad had to offer.
Isaac Blackman is set to provide most of the movies score.
Movie Synopsis:
4 Friends
live in a country where life is fun. They simply exist in the moment of each passing day. On the heels of a chance meeting,
life as they have become accustomed to will change. A powerful business man, a corrupt police commissioner, an impartial detective,
and an undesirable community will collide as they all come to terms with an unforeseen interest in each other.
Challenging
and thought provoking, “SHANTY” opens the discussion of Life, Love & Class. It’s an unflinching look at global stereotypes
usually derived from class structure.
The
robust multi-cultural nation of Trinidad and Tobago
serves as the backdrop, as our characters struggle for acceptance and the solution of a crime. Hiding behind the armor of
belief proves to be the only thing limiting them from unveiling the truth. With colorful humor and unpredictable twists, “SHANTY”
opens up our minds about the true feelings we possess towards the unknown areas of our society. A story of Life, Love and Class – SHANTY

This is a hilarious view and take-off from the Caribbean connection to
recent terrorist activity in the US. This is not meant to make light of the situation, it is simply represents the way Caribbean
people deal with difficult situations. This is quite long but trust me if you have any interest in soca, carnival and culture
you will want to take the time to read it. Thank you to Queen Macoomeh for sharing it with the world!
It was reported today, the United States has captured
four Caribbean people suspected
of plotting terrorist acts against the US.
Four old men were arrested and charged with the heinous crimes. The men hail from Guyana and Trinidad but since no one knew which
island was Guyana, the FBI concluded it
must be part of Trinidad.
After careful investigation, the US
authorities revealed that Trinidad was the new Axis
of Bacchanal. US President Dasheen Bush authorized fifty thousand troops to
begin a load of "Strategic Halt In Terrorism" (S.H.I.T.) campaign against Trinidad
but on discovery of the actual size of the twin island country, forty-nine thousand
troops were forced to wait in Barbados, Grenada, Martinique, St. Kitts, St,
Vincent, Antigua, St. Lucia, Dominica and Jamaica while the first thousand landed in Trinidad.
It became apparent to the US troops immediately upon arrival that Trinidad and Tobago was indeed expecting an invasion. The troops arrived on what is called "J'ouvert Morning"
- a fundamentalist movement on the island. Streets were empty and all focus was
on the two areas of worship - Port of Spainand
SanFernando. At Piarco - the island's only airport, there was a lengthy delay due to
the fact that the entire personnel was in the staffroom viewing something called "Parade
of Bands". Later, the troops were asked to wait onthe tarmac while a rather disgruntled
customs officer spoke at length to another customs officer about a covert plot called:
